THE GEOLOGY OF WHAT WE ARE
We are born flesh
and time turns us to stone.
We grow as angels
and learn the weight of falling,
keeping within hidden veins
an essence of life
that still cries out
while the world does not listen.
Far from the surface,
we plunge into the abyss of memories,
where small joys
cut like ancient blades
and lash us with certainties
we do not want to see.
A human desert
where everything passes,
everything is far too brief,
and yet,
everything leaves its mark.
Glaring differences
tear through the same silence.
And what remains?
What are we
after the crossing
between reason and emotion,
between the heat that sets us ablaze
and the cold that turns us to stone?
What do we become
when the stone can no longer conceal
the flesh that still pulses?
How long
will what we are
continue trying to be born
from what we have learned to become?
