THE ECLIPSE OF IMPULSE

 THE ECLIPSE OF IMPULSE

Some mistake ice for the absence of fire.

But even the stars know silence
before setting the universe ablaze.

Coldness observes.
Self-control chooses.

Between the two lies an abyss
where desire learns not to kneel.

There are storms that need no thunder.
There are stars that die in silence
and still cross millions of years
dressed in light.

The human being who masters their own fire
does not cease to burn.

They become a constellation.

They learn to contemplate impulse
as one watches an eclipse:
without trying to stop the shadow,
without allowing it to become night.

True strength does not shout.
It does not chase what it desires.
It does not beg the universe for a different orbit.

It remains.

And while everything around it falls apart,
it keeps within itself
a small, untouched sun.

Coldness may be distance.

Self-control is freedom.

There is a deeper form of power:
to feel the entire universe collapsing inside the chest
and still choose
where to place the next step.

In the end, it is not the one who stops feeling who prevails.

It is the one who feels the abyss
and learns to walk across it
without falling.

THE ABYSS BETWEEN THE VEILS

THE ABYSS BETWEEN THE VEILS

Human beings do not seek the truth.
They seek a truth they can bear.

There are mysteries that ripen like grapes in the dark,
holding within their skin what the mouth still does not know how to name.

There are truths that are like a walnut:
hard on the outside,
bitter when finally opened.

And still we insist on breaking them,
as though knowing were always a form of liberation.

It is not.

There are forms of knowledge that burn like fire,
and silences that drown more deeply than water.

Human beings call destiny what they desired,
love what they possessed,
prudence what they feared,
and wisdom what they learned to endure.

Truth watches in silence.

It promises no salvation.
It offers no meaning.
It does not caress our wounds.

It simply remains.

Mystery still allows desire.
It leaves a door half-open,
a shadow upon the skin,
a dark wine upon the lips,
a question breathing between two people.

Truth frightens us less by what it reveals
than by what it destroys.

It destroys what we invented in order to keep desiring.

The fire ends,
the water grows still,
the grapes rot,
and even the walnut shell breaks between our fingers.

Then what remains is what we never wanted to find.

Ourselves.

Without mystery.
Without excuses.
Without the beauty of illusions.

And in that instant, we understand the greatest cruelty:

the abyss was never hidden.

We were the ones who spent our lives
calling mystery what we could not bear to call the truth.

THE NIGHT KNOWS

THE NIGHT KNOWS

The night kicks down the door and finds me standing, waiting,

hands stained with what I swallowed whole just to seem normal.

It turns off the light in the glass and leaves only the pen

cutting the silence in half — one half bleeds, the other is born.

Writing is tearing out with a fingernail what has rotted inside,

is letting the raw word be born larger than the lies I heard all day,

is feeling silence turn to bone, turn to blood, turn to mouth.

There is a pact none of us ever signed, only bled:

it lends me the darkness, I return it in flesh of words;

it hides the monster, I have the courage to devour it with its name.

The pen pierces the paper and there is no more pretending —

the word tears apart, the sentence skins, the comma is a blade.

I bring out what others only whisper with their eyes closed.

Dawn comes. The night retreats like a murderer who was never at the scene.

But the written shadow never returns to the dark.

Once written, no shadow ever becomes silence again.

Inadequado. Vulgar. Erótico. Excessivo. Provocativo.

O texto desaparece.

A ignorância permanece.

A embalagem muda.

A pobreza intelectual permanece.

O leitor preguiçoso lê a superfície.

Cortam a aresta.

Suavizam o desejo.

Neutralizam o conflito.

Explicam a metáfora.

Corrigem a provocação.

A primeira é liberdade.

A segunda exige humildade.

Pesado demais.

Sensual demais.

Estranho demais.

Provocativo demais.

Comercialmente arriscado.

Inadequado.

Incompreensível.

A palavra muda.

A intenção permanece:

Perdeu a própria voz.

Y nosotros,
hechos de carne, sal, hierro y memoria,
llamamos a esa hambre
vida.

THE FISSURES OF SILENCE

THE FISSURES OF SILENCE

Silence is not emptiness.

It is a sealed stone
holding within itself
the noise of everything
that found no way out.

The secret goes deeper.

It does not remain only in the mouth.
It descends into the blood,
settles into the bones,
takes root where the light
cannot reach.

Silence can be peace.

A secret is a scar.

One disappears when the word is born.
The other survives
even after it has been revealed.

There are silences that set us free.

And there are secrets that rot
in the darkness of the flesh,
feeding on the fear
of being spoken.

To keep silent
is to close a door.

To keep a secret
is to live behind it.

Deep within the self,
every buried truth
continues to breathe.

And some truths
do not need a voice.

Time is enough.

It always finds
the fissures
through which the secret
begins to bleed.

THE NIGHT KNOWS

THE NIGHT KNOWS

The night knows.

It knows what the day pretends not to have heard.

Windows close. The last streetlight fades a face reflected in the glass. Something remains lit. It is not the body. It is the thoughts that spent the entire day crouched in the corner, waiting for the house to empty.

That is when the writer approaches the page. Barefoot. His hands still stained by everything he carried throughout the day.

He does not arrive with answers. He arrives hungry.

During the day, we lie well. We hide fear behind crowded schedules, sadness behind elevator smiles, desire behind polite silence. We wear names, titles, surnames. We talk so much that we forget the sound of our own voice when there is no audience.

The night tears those clothes away.

Certain words are born only after midnight, when the body no longer has the strength to keep lying.

Darkness does not ask permission. It explains nothing. It stays. It waits.

And standing before it, the writer understands:

Shadow is not the enemy.

Some shadows guard what he has not yet found the courage to scream. Others hold memories that should have rotted long ago but refused to die. There is a shadow that bites. There is also a shadow that rocks you in its arms.

And then there is the shadow that picks up the pen.

The tip tears across the paper—the only sound in the entire house.

One word. Then another, dirtier than the first.

Silence gains flesh, bone, scent.

Writing is forcing into the world what has spent an entire lifetime without a mouth.

The writer invents nothing at three in the morning. He excavates.

It was already there, buried shallow, waiting for a night deep enough to be dug out with bare hands.

A blank page was never empty. It is crowded. With questions he swallowed in front of others. With ghosts he swore he had killed. With the part of himself that wears a muzzle and a collar during the day.

And there is something indecent about this encounter.

Once the pen touches the paper, there is no pretending anymore that he did not know.

The word exposes. The sentence betrays. The comma is a confession.

Writing is the most elegant way of tearing your own throat open in public.

The night knows the books that died halfway through. The letters torn apart before they were ever sealed. The desires that survived only disguised as metaphor. The three in the morning when he almost told the whole truth, then erased everything before sunrise like a thief.

Between the writer and the night, there is a blood pact neither of them ever signed:

she lends him silence;

he gives it back in flesh made of words.

she hides the shadow;

he has the courage to baptize it with his own name.

Dawn comes. The page remains. The night retreats behind the first light, as if it had never been there.

But something has changed hands forever.

A written shadow no longer belongs only to the darkness. It belongs to memory. It belongs to the word. It belongs to whoever had the stomach to descend that far and return alive.

And every time someone opens a blank page in the middle of the night, the night stays close.

Watching. Waiting. Knowing.

The night knows what we write when we swear no one is watching.
